New Learning Strategies for S.Y. 2020-2021
As face-to-face teaching delivery as of the moment is not allowed due to the novel corona virus, Department of Education Secretary Leonora Briones proposed the Blended and Distant Learning for school year 2020-2021, which has gotten a go signal from President Rodrigo Duterte.
Briones, on her talk during the (IATF-EID) meeting, clarified and assured that she still stands on the matter of health and the safety of the learners as well as the school faculties.
“We can provide learning opportunities to our learners without them having to go to school, and this we can do through what is described as ‘blended and distant’ learning”, Briones stated.
According to the DepEd Secretary, the department will adjust to the needs and various approaches will be applied to the actual situation in different communities, hence, blended. And for those who have no interactive facilities whatsoever, there will be printed materials that is going to be delivered to the homes of the students through barangays, which can be picked up by their parents at designated places within coordinated schedules.
Another approach is one favored by most, especially those with phones and good signal. It is the online platform, wherein lessons, homework, quizzes, tips to learners and other learning strategies shall be done online or through teleconferencing.
Pres. Duterte showed support for the department’s plan and has promised to lend a hand if it’s a question of funding.
